Monthly Maker Check-In: October 2026

Monthly Maker Check-In: October 2026

October was definitely full on wedding mode... and doctor's appointments... and the busiest month at the sandwich shop. WHIRLWIND.

What I Made This Month

It's almost the end of the year, which means Eudaimonia Studio's Hand and Soul 2026 is coming to a close as well! October's block, Ephemera, was my first ever try at curved piecing.... not a fan..... I'll practice more eventually (aka I'm pretty sure November & December blocks also have curved piecing...)

I finished my Patchwork Kicks for the wedding. But!!!!!! I will not be able to wear them. I go between an 8-9 shoe size, so I chose 9.... they are an inch too big. Oh well! I wore them for pictures and we'll display them at the wedding. Also finished in wedding projects was my VERY LAST RAG BANNER!!!!! I will never make a rag banner again.

I made another version of my Block Party Coin Purse (get the pattern here!), and I also made some button barrettes which you can read about here!

I did have a failed project. I rust dyed some muslin and made a top out of DIY Daisy's Sew It Yourself book, but I think I got my measurements wrong somewhere because it is WAY too big. I'll rust dye again sometime and try again (or a different pattern)... but that will wait until I'm a lot less busy.

I also finished a wall hanging pattern that will be featured in Alderwood Studio's Modern Makes Membership next October! (so that's a secret for now...)

What Inspired Me

It's amazing having plenty of friends on Facebook, Instagram, and Discord in the quilting/sewing/knitting communities who are always willing to answer my questions. I am always excited to see what they're working on too!

Things I Loved

I love that I've had so many people willing to help me with the final touches on my wedding decor and setup. I also love that it's almost over HA! I also love that I get to watch NCIS with my parents for these last few weeks while we get rag banners done!

New Ideas & Techniques I Want to Try

So remember earlier when I said I don't like curved piecing? Well I have a cool idea for a table runner in the works.... and it uses curved piecing..... so..... I GUESS I'LL WORK ON IT. (Table runner is set to release as a freebie in April of 2027, so stay tuned!!)

Reflections on My Creative Process

I'm ready to slow down. Now that wedding projects are done... commissions will be next... and then I just need to focus on pattern samples for The Kitschy Creative with the OCCASIONAL personal project.

Next Month's Intentions

Commissions. Pattern Samples. Knitting in the free time. Enjoying married life. That's it.

Your turn!
