Welcome to the Kitschy Creative

If you watched my first YouTube video, you might already know me as Alli B Creative. A lot has changed since then, both creatively and personally, and I realized YouTube wasn’t quite the right fit for me. So, welcome to my new creative home! Here’s a little about me (or you can rewatch that video down below).
I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I don’t even remember learning how. I’ve just always done it! Growing up, I made clothes for the county fair and the Sew with Cotton contest, where I won 1st place in my regional category and 3rd place at state.

In college, I earned a theatre degree and fell in love with costuming. I worked on productions like A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Footloose, and Painting the Roses Red, a completely student-devised prequel to Alice in Wonderland.

After graduation, I applied to several graduate programs and internships, but none of them worked out at the time. That twist led me to Arkansas Fashion School, where I learned a lot, even though I eventually left because of a difference in learning styles. To keep my skills sharp, I dove into the world of indie sewing patterns and started sewing nonstop.

At the end of 2022, after some tough life changes, I lost my spark for sewing and creativity in general. Thankfully, by summer 2024, I found my love for making again. I got back into sewing full force and even bought myself a She Shed! While my organization has changed a lot since then, the shed is still my happy place.
That creative comeback led me to try something new: quilting. It started small with tote bags and makeup pouches but grew into larger projects. I spent a full year, on and off, making a quilt for my dad’s cousin, and that process solidified my new obsession. I was dreaming up projects in my sleep!

This quilting journey inspired me to take the Quilt Pattern Writing Course with Elizabeth Chappell of Quilter’s Candy, where I am beginning to develop my own pattern line. Now, I’m combining my love of garment sewing and quilting to create colorful, kitschy projects that blur the line between art and function.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for being here! Stick around for tutorials, experimental sewing and quilting projects, and a peek behind the scenes as I design my own patterns.
As a fun incentive to join my email list, I have decided to do a giveaway of this beautiful table runner I made! All you have to do is sign up for my email list using this link.
