July was a whirlwind. I got a lot done, but still not a lot finished... BUT THAT'S OKAY!!!! That just means I'll finish a lot at once and I can have a huge August post! (Also, I apparently forgot to schedule this for it's usual date of the last Thursday of the month.... oops...)

What I Made This Month

Continuing on with Eudaimonia Studio's Hand and Soul 2026 BOM, we have the block for July: Splendor! This one was a lot of fun to make, and I'm getting a lot better at Half Rectangle Triangles!

I finished a lot of quilt tops at a quilt retreat I went to, but since they're not COMPLETELY finished, I'll wait to post them. It's really exciting to get a whole weekend of sewing and see how much you can really do when you get down to it!

In other crafts, I finished this mushroom bucket hat for my former co-worker, Ayden!

What Inspired Me

The quilting retreat was obviously a source of inspiration. Seeing other people's projects, getting a lot done on my own projects, and just chit chatting with other makers. 

I got inspired to do some smaller, "palette cleanser" projects after making 3 large quilt tops and my wedding projects. I'm going to make a thread catcher, a patchwork laundry bag, and I'm also going to make some smaller things to sell at the gallery at my job! I'm thinking makeup bags, zipper pouches, coin purses, etc. 

Things I Loved

I have a crochet shirt I'm working on that I've frogged and restarted AT LEAST 7 times... and I think I've finally got it right! I really love that haha!

We have a new craft store in town, and I got a set of ergonomic crochet hooks and a case for them from her! She also told us that she has gotten a contract to sell Lion Brand yarn at her shop, so I'm excited for that!

I also went to our LYS (Local Yarn Shop) for the 2026 Arkansas Yarn Crawl! I wasn't going to buy anything, but was influenced by my friend, and bought some mustard yellow yarn and some lilac yarn to make the Petal Spell Slipover by Stitch Storie.

New Ideas & Techniques I Want to Try

I am SO EXCITED because one of the ladies at the quilt retreat has a long arm and has agreed to teach me how to use it! So I will be long arming 2 out of the 3 quilt tops I finished at retreat. 

I will also be starting on an art quilt/applique/folksy quilt idea I have before our Quilt Show this year!

Reflections on My Creative Process

This month started out as leftovers from June, but then I started to get on a roll again. Quilt Retreat definitely helped with that as well! I'm excited about projects again, have some new quilt patterns imagined, and I'm excited to share everything with you guys!

Next Month's Intentions

I'm at the point where most of my big projects (wedding, commissions, etc.) are at either the second to last or last stage in the process, which is SUPER exciting to finally be finished with some of these things! 

Lots of things will be completed in August and then I'll go back to a few clothing projects for a while, as well as the smaller items I mentioned previously.
