As I knew would happen... I finished SO MUCH in August!

Let's skip the intro, and get straight into the good stuff, yeah? 

What I Made This Month

As always, we'll start with Eudaimonia Studio's Hand and Soul 2026 BOM. August's block was Felicity. It was all paper pieced which I loved!

Remember all those quilt tops I finished at quilt retreat? I got all of them finished up except for one. 

This first one was a commission for my adopted "grandmother". I made her a throw quilt a few months ago, and her dog loved it so much, she wanted me to make a quilt just for her dog! Head over to my Instagram to see a photo of the pup on the quilt! This was also the first quilt I free motion longarmed!

This next one was a commission for my former coworker. Her sister is having a baby, so I designed this baby quilt using FPP letters from Pen & Paper Patterns for her name, and then I had a lot of 4" purple squares leftover from making a piano bench cover for my mom last year, so I designed the rest of the pattern around those! This was the first quilt I longarmed using a pantograph!

I also finished 3 of my wedding projects, which is a HUGE load off my back. 

I finished a set of 3 little coin purse keychains, which will be my next pattern for you to look forward to! Here's a sneak peek of one of them. 

Other than quilting projects, I also finished the Romanticist Bandana by Meredith Campbell. My first knit project with lace! This was the one I mentioned all the way back in my January check-in that I got so frustrated with, but it finally made sense to me! I also did this cute little chamomile flower bouquet that I got at a Books A Million a while back!

I think that's all I got FINISHED in August... I may be missing some things... but I think that's it. 

What Inspired Me

ACTUALLY GETTING THINGS DONE! It is so freeing to have so many things checked off, so I don't feel bad about starting new things. 

I also loved the slowness of hand binding because I got to watch NCIS reruns with my dad while I was binding 4 quilts!

Things I Loved

I got to FINALLY visit Arkansas Yarn Co. in Malvern. I was going to go for Arkansas Yarn Crawl, but life happened and I wasn't able to. It was so lovely getting recommendations for yarn for what I plan on making (the Relaxed Raglan by Alicia Plummer) and just chit chatting about the people we have in common!

New Ideas & Techniques I Want to Try

Now that I somewhat know how to longarm, I'm excited to do more of that! I even bought a hoop frame (more of a midarm than a long arm, but same process), and I'm super excited (and intimidated) to learn how to use that!

I am also going to try my hand at some raw edge applique art quilt style mini quilting!

Reflections On My Creative Process

Finishing feels so good. It gets me on a motivated roll to just keep finishing the things I start. 

I really need to get to a point though, where I don't IMMEDIATELY start on the next thing, but instead enjoy the finished project for a little while and think about what I've accomplished with that. 

Next Month's Intentions

I'm excited to enter a few quilts into the county fair this year, and also (later on) our local quilt show. Two of my other goals for 2026 were to enter into the state fair and our local art gallery's Forge and Fiber exhibit, but I have decided not to do either of those just because I'm too darn busy. 

I have the coin purse pattern coming out hopefully towards the end of September, and then I'll start working on my last quilt pattern of the year, which will come out in December.
