Monthly Maker Check-In: April 2026
Share
Hi Makers! It's that time of the month again where I tell you what's been going on in my studio! I hope to hear back from you as well about what you've been cutting and sewing!
What I Made This Month
Continuing on the Eudaimonia Studio's Hand & Soul BOM, here is April's block, Trailblazer!

I participated in another mug rug swap (last one for a while), and I decided to go completely improv for this. She wanted bright colors, and they just screamed "flower" to me! First time doing improv, first time doing curves, and first time binding something crazy like this..... too many firsts at one time. But I loved how it turned out!

I made the Town Bag by Grainline Studio and the Isla Dress by Gold & Skye during my dye series from this month's blog posts here and here.

I FINALLY finished my Sophie Scarf... tell me why I chose black yarn.. never again... and honestly? I don't know if I'll ever wear it... I don't tend to wear scarves. I think I just chose it because it is an easy pattern and this is my second ever knitting pattern. Practice, practice!
Of course, I made the doormat during girl's night which was SO MUCH FUN! And then I also made a pair of yellow Yanta Overalls by Helen's Closet, but they're not quite finished yet.. gotta hem them.

What Inspired Me
The thing that inspired me most this month was my salsa garden! The growth in it is AMAZING to watch! It reminds me that growth takes time and not everything happens in the blink of an eye. My business is not immediately (or maybe ever) going to make me a million dollars, but I don't just quit because I don't see any growth immediately!

I also launched a new quilt pattern this month, so if you would like to support my growth, check out my pattern, Cosmic Crush!

Things I Loved
I've really loved olive green (which is my favorite color anyways) this month. Specifically, I found this GORGEOUS yarn at a local thrift store. I think I'm going to try to knit a beret with it!

New Ideas or Techniques I Want to Try
My next knitting project will not only be in the round, but also teaching me like 5 new techniques... so I'm a little nervous about that. But it'll be fun!
I'm also going to a Quilt Retreat next month in which I will be working on my wedding projects. One of them is an applique table runner, so that will be my first time doing applique!
Reflections on My Creative Process
I definitely need to do more research before I just go out and try new techniques... I'm looking at you improv mug rug....
I also started a second job, so now I have to be really, really intentional about my time. Normally, if I have even an hour or less to sew, I just don't. So, I need to get in my head that I can use ANY amount of time to sew (it is kinda hard since my sewing shed is outside... but I'll get over it). I need to chunk things down into small bits and pieces, so I can figure out how to just GO DO IT!!!
Next Month's Intention
I'm super excited to actually fully participate in Me Made May next month. I'll also be sewing more clothing than usual (hopefully), and going to my first ever quilt retreat!!!!
