Meet 'Ascenscion'

After lots of hard work and creative moments, I am so excited to finally be sharing my first quilt pattern, Ascension, with the quilting world!

In September 2025, I started the Quilter's Candy Quilt Pattern Writing Course. I learned how to cultivate ideas, design patterns in Adobe Illustrator, do all the quilt math, write clear instructions, bring figures into Adobe InDesign, and learn about launching techniques and business practices, plus so much more!

Ascension is inspired by a major shift in my life, moving from a place I felt stuck into a future I intentionally chose. It represents investing in myself and my creativity, and rising from a job I hated into a life that feels completely and authentically me.

Originally, I began designing a quilt pattern that was far more intense and complicated. I quickly realized that wasn’t the best approach while learning new programs and processes. Instead, I chose to simplify the design, using squares, rectangles, and half-square triangles to convey the idea of rising out of life’s lows in a way that felt achievable and satisfying.

Because of this, Ascension is very beginner-friendly, comes together quickly, and can be made in a wide variety of colorways, including ombré, rainbow, two-tone, or prints. The finished quilt measures 48" x 48", making it the perfect lap-size quilt. The arrangement of the fabric creates a subtle optical illusion that is eye-catching and fun to piece.

The pattern includes fabric requirements, a cutting guide, step-by-step illustrated instructions, color inspiration, and a coloring page so you can plan your own version.

Ascension is now available as a digital download in my shop. Click here to grab your pattern.

I cannot wait to see your version of Ascension. Be sure to tag me on Instagram and use #TKCAscension. You can also sign up for my newsletter for sewing tips, creative experiments, and future pattern releases.
