How to Host a Creative Girls' Night: Ideas, Inspiration, & What to Make
Share
Making friends as an adult is hard. We always say we want to get together more often, but then life gets in the way. Or we just get together to have food and chat, but then we end up spending the night on our phones sharing memes, instead of actually doing something.
Adding creativity into girl's night changes the energy. It gives your hands something to do, and it removes the pressure to be "on", which is super important for me as a recovering people pleaser.
Recently, I hosted a creative girl's night with a few of my friends. We ate snacks, chatted, and painted doormats! It was very fun and low stress. At the end of the night, someone asked, "So..... what are we making next time?" I'd say that makes it a success!

How to Host a Creative Girls' Night
Decide Your Vibe
Before picking a project, choose the vibe of the night.
- Cozy and calm?
- Chaotic and silly?
- Scrap-busting?
- Seasonal themed?
This will help keep the night intentional, and it will also help you choose what project to make as well.
Choose the Right Type of Project
The Rule: Simple, Portable, No Perfection Required
- Avoid complicated cutting, ironing, piecing, and anything that requires intense instruction
- If your friends don't do a specific craft (quilting, knitting, etc), choose something that is generic, but fun. Easy, but interesting. (Stay tuned for ideas below!)
- Choose something that each person can make their own instead of multiple of the exact same thing
Easy Project Ideas
Make it beginner friendly with no experience required, no pressure to finish, no comparing, no perfection.
- Small hand sewing projects like EPP, slow stitching books, or fabric postcards
- Collage vision boards
- Junk journaling
- Jewelry Making
- Doormat Painting
- Paint by Number
- Air Dry Clay
- Painting Plant Pots
- Block Print a Tote Bag
- Pumpkin Painting
- Holiday Ornament Decorating
What to Provide as a Host
- Small supply kit for every person
- Extra supplies for everyone to use
- Simple written instructions, if needed
- Snacks (more on this soon!)
- A clean space, ready to use

Snack Ideas
I feel like sometimes, the food is more exciting than the creative project itself... maybe that's just me... maybe I just love food. Here are some easy finger food ideas that don't get in the way of the projects!
- Charcuterie board
- Meat, cheese, crackers, pickles, almonds, fruit, etc
- Veggie or Fruit tray with dip
- Jalapeno Poppers
- Meatballs or Cocktail Weenies
- Brownies or Cookies
- A delicious punch or fun drink
